MA5-17400 targets CD8a/T subset NK in FACS applications and shows reactivity with Rat samples.
The MA5-17400 immunogen is high molecular weight rat thymocyte glycoproteins.
This antibody recognizes CD8. CD8 is composed of an alpha chain with Mr=30-34 kDa linked by disulfide bonds to a beta chain with Mr=30-32 kDa. In addition to forming heterodimers with the beta chain, the alpha chain is also capable of forming homodimers while the beta chain is incapable of forming homodimers. The extracellular portion of CD8alpha binds to the non-polymorphic portion of MHC class I molecules. This interaction is important in the antigen presentation to CD8+ T cells. The cytoplasmic domain of the alpha chain associates with p56lck, a member of the Src family of tyrosine kinases. Cells which are reactive with this antibody include: thymocytes, natural killer cells, and a subset (CD4-) of peripheral T-cells.
