MA1-21417 detects Avidin in Chicken samples. MA1-21417 is specific for egg white avidin. No cross reaction is seen with human and animal serum proteins and streptavidin. The antibody reacts with avidin without interfering with its biotin-binding activity.
MA1-21417 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western Blot procedures. The predicted molecular weight of MA1-21417 is 17 kDa.
MA1-21417 immunogen corresponds to Egg white avidin..
The biological function of avidin is not known. It is a homotetrameric glycoprotein found in chicken egg white, and forms a strong non-covalent specific complex with biotin (one molecule of biotin per subunit of avidin).
