MA1-21419 detects Avidin. This antibody shows no cross reactivity with any human or animal serum proteins, or with streptavidin. Reacts with avidin without interfering with its biotin-binding activity.
MA1-21419 has been successfully used in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot procedures. MA1-21419 has a predicted molecular weight of ~68 kDa.
MA1-21419 immunogen corresponds to Egg white Avidin.
The biological function of avidin is not known. It is a homotetrameric glycoprotein found in chicken egg white, and forms a strong non-covalent specific complex with biotin (one molecule of biotin per subunit of avidin).
