PA5-19779 targets C9 in Western blot applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The PA5-19779 immunogen is synthetic peptide conjugated to KLH derived from within residues 500 to the C-terminus of Human C9.
By Western blot, PA5-19779 detects a band of approximately 70 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 63 kDa).
This gene encodes the final component of the complement system. It participates in the formation of the Membrane Attack Complex (MAC). The MAC assembles on bacterial membranes to form a pore, permitting disruption of bacterial membrane organization. Mutations in this gene cause component C9 deficiency.
