Lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPA1, EDG2, VZG-1) is a seven transmembrane receptor coupled to G proteins and has high affinity to lypophosphatidic acid (LPA). LPA1 is a member of the EDG-family of receptors which includes LPA1, LPA2 and LPA3. These receptors mediate the serum borne lipid mediator LPA for a variety biological functions. The activation of LPA1 by LPA has shown to stimulate cell spreading and motility, mitogenesis, and various other nervous system activities.
