TM7XN1 has been reported to be expressed in brain, heart, and thyroid. ESTs have been isolated from a wide variety of tissue libraries. Results show that mutations in TM7XN1 cause a human brain cortical malformation called bilateral frontoparietal polymicrogyria (BFPP); data suggest that TM7XN1 signaling plays an essential role in regional development of human cerebral cortex.
