The inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA, acts through two ligand-gated channels, GABAA and GABAC receptors and GABAB, the latter of which acts through a G protein mechanism. GABABR2 is one of the two G-protein coupled receptors for GABAB that acts as a heteromeric assembly with GABABR1.
