PA1-4114 detects Hepatitis C Virus.
PA1-4114 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
The PA1-4114 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C(33) G V Y L L P R R G P R(43) of HCV core, envelope, and part of E2/NS1 of HCV.
One of the more recently identified hepatitis viruses, hepatitis C is associated with chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. The virus is found worldwide and is acquired through blood transfusions or intravenous drug abuse. Development of a vaccine for hepatitis C has been complicated by sequence diversity between viral groups, and significant sequence heterogeneity among isolates in the N-terminal region of E2/NS1.
