PA1-25464 detects JAB1 from human samples. PA1-25464 is expected to cross react with mouse (100% conserved) and rat (100% conserved) due to sequence homology.
PA1-25464 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, and Western blot procedures.
The PA1-25464 immunogen is a synthetic peptide: SGSGMAQKTWELANNMQ with C-terminal added cysteine, conjugated to KLH, corresponding to amino acids 4-20 of Human JAB1. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse and rat.
JAB-1 is a 38 kDa protein which was originally described as a coactivator for cJUN. It is present in a large protein complex called the ""Signalosome"", which has been proposed to play a signaling role in mammalian cells. This protein complex appears to be analogous to the COP9 complex in plants, which is important in light-mediated plant development. Although the specific function of JAB-1 in this complex is unclear, it has recently been implicated in targeting proteins for degradation by the proteasome.
