PA1-22527 detects MMP-2 in Rat samples.
PA1-22527 has been successfully used in Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot procedures.
PA1-22527 immunogen corresponds to Recombinant fragment (catalytic domain) (Rat)..
The mammalian matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) degrade extracellular matrix in physiological and pathological processes (ref 1). After cleavage of a signal peptide domain of about 20 amino acids, the MMPs are secreted in latent forms. Upon activation, the N-terminal propeptide domain is cleaved to generate the active forms of MMP (ref 2). MMP-2 (72 kDa type IV collagenase, Gelatinase-A) contain the basic structure of propeptide, catalytic, and hemopexin domains. It is an important proteinase in tissue remodeling.
