Forensic Drug Testing Information

Winning the war on drugs

The adoption of mass spectrometry (MS)–based workflows in forensic drug testing labs is increasing at a rapid pace, due in part to the continued rise in the manufacturing and trafficking of synthetic or designer drugs and the changing trends of drugs of abuse.

The purpose of these learning center resources is to examine some of the changing aspects in forensic drug testing, and introduce emerging MS technologies to help improve workflows for targeted drug screening, quantification, and identifying new or unknown drugs.

Forensic drug testing subtopics

Novel Psychoactive Substances

The continued emergence of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) poses a number of analytical challenges for forensic laboratories. Learn about the latest advances in chromatography and MS solutions for confidently identifying NPS and utilizing state of the art high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) MS Orbitrap technology for reliable screening and confirmation in a single run.

Expanding Forensic Drug Panels

Drug screens offer a convenient selection of tests for identifying and quantifying drug levels for a broad variety of drug classes in your sample. Learn about the latest advances to help screen more analytes of interest efficiently to aid your research, investigation, and improve your organization’s testing costs.

Suitable Samples for Drug Testing

Confident drug testing results identify which drugs of abuse (DoA) and quantities are involved, as well as determine drug levels in the body at the time of death or impairment to drive. Commonly tested biological sample matrices include blood, tissue, urine, hair, and innovative sample types such as oral fluid and exhaled breath.
