A standard tissue culture (TC) surface modification that makes the polystyrene surface more hydrophilic, thus facilitating maximum adhesion for a broad range of cell types. High quality, optically clear virgin polystyrene with hydrophobic surface, ideal for suspension cell culture, also useful for a variety of biochemical binding assays. With thin and clear surface optimized for microscopic applications, these optical bottom plates are ideal for fluorescence and luminescence cellular imaging analysis. Enables formation of reproducible spheroid cultures. Cells grow and aggregate with virtually no cell attachment to the culture vessel. For spheroid culture, organoid culture, and 3D culture. Enables harvesting of cells in single cell suspension or as contiguous cell sheet by temperature reduction. Can create 3D tissue models without foreign-to-the-body scaffold material ECM-coated surface mimicking the growth environment inside the body, ideal for cells that have difficulties growing on the regular tissue culture surface. Collagen I is of animal origin, whereas PDL is fully synthetic.

Nunc 96-well cell culture treated plates for adherent cells

The Thermo Scientific Nunclon Delta cell culture surface treatment promotes maximum adhesion for a broad range of cell types.

The Nunclon Delta surface is a fully synthetic energy-treated surface that makes the otherwise very hydrophobic polystyrene surface more hydrophilic, thus facilitating cell attachment and growth. The Nunclon Delta certificate ensures high quality standards and lot-to-lot consistency.

Cell adhesion and growth on coated or modified glass or plastic surfaces
Growth substrates affect the adhesion, growth, morphology and differentiation of various cell types. However, the response to a given surface is cell type–specific. Selection of a growth surface for cell culture should be based on cell culture performance and on application. In this technical bulletin, the growth of various cell types on plastic, soda lime glass and borosilicate coverglass was examined with surfaces that were either unmodified, coated with polylysine, or stably surface modified with non-biological reagents or electrical discharge.
