Royal Visitor Helps Open New Life Technologies Building in the UK
by Kim Evans - 08/04/10
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of Britain visited our Inchinnan (Paisley) site in the UK on July 15 to officially open the new Fountain Crescent building.
Life Technologies acquired the building last year and embarked on a refurbishment with the Scottish Government contributing to the funding in support of the project, which brought new jobs to the site through the consolidation of shared services. The work was completed in February.
During the visit, the princess was shown the new building and changes made to the campus’ other building, Fountain Drive, including a new customer experience center and demonstration labs, new office facilities for Operations and IT employees, and a new health facility.
At the opening Princess Anne heard brief presentations about a number of our key product applications, including applied markets, bioproduction and next generation sequencing. She also received an overview of the campus, including future upgrade plans, products that are manufactured there, and employee initiatives around wellness and the community.
As part of the formal ceremonies, Princess Anne helped unveil a commemorative plaque that marked the building’s official opening.
With the formal opening of the Fountain Crescent building, the Inchinnan site has passed a significant milestone in its development as the headquarters for Life Technologies in EMEA.
Thanks to Scottish Enterprise for assistance with the opening.
