Resource Area for Teaching

In June 2011, in an effort to support the Bay Area's teaching community, seven employees volunteered at Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help educators transform the learning experience through "hands-on" education that inspires the joy and discovery of learning.

Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry

Thanks to the generosity and determination of our employees in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes (KLF) food pantry will be able to feed hundreds of people in the local community. Following a three-week food drive organized by the site's Community and Activities Committee (CAC), the site collected 2,478.14 pounds of food and $757.44 in cash donations.

Clean Lakes Festival

Employees in Madison, Wisconsin, are putting our mission statement into action by helping make their local lakes cleaner and safer. Sponsoring its first community event, the company's Madison Community Action Council (CAC) was a premier sponsor of the Clean Lakes Festival on August 28. Founded in 2007, the festival creates awareness and raises money to support lake clean-up projects in Dane County. This year's event set a new record, raising more than $100,000. In addition to employee volunteers, the Madison CAC donated $15,000 to the cause.

Other Notable Volunteer Activities

• Asheville, NC, Community Action Council was involved with a Rotary Club and Mission Healthcare Foundation fundraising event for "Kids Against Hunger" where 48 employees helped pack 216,000 meals donated to less fortunate families.
• The Greater Waltham CAC volunteered at the Massachusetts Special Olympics Summer Games the weekend of June 18, 2011. Approximately 30 employees from 6 sites participated.
