Thermo Fisher Scientific Features Range of Industrial Weighing and Monitoring Solutions at ACHEMA 2009Highly accurate and reliable equipment for bulk weighing applications FRANKFURT (May 11, 2009) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, highlights its line of Thermo Scientific bulk weighing and monitoring equipment used for process control as well as production monitoring and automation in an array of industries, including quarry and aggregate, mining, construction, food and chemicals on booth H40-J41 in Hall 10.1 at ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 11-15. Highly accurate and reliable, these industrial weighing and monitoring products also ensure safe operation within a customer’s process. The portfolio includes conveyor belt scales and safety switches, tramp metal detectors, automatic sweep samplers, weighbelt feeders, loss-in-weight feeders and level and solids flow indicators. Thermo Fisher Scientific is one of the world’s largest providers of conveyor belt scale systems, these belt scales monitor production output and inventory or regulate product loadout. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey IDEA provides basic rate information and totalization functions in processes involving non-critical or lower value materials with an accuracy of ±1percent. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Series 20 monitors feed to crushers, mills, screens and other processes with an accuracy of ±0.5percent, even in the most demanding industrial applications. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Series 17 is specifically designed for operations that run at high rates of speed or require high accuracy. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Series 14 is designed for basis-of-payment applications requiring certification by government and regulatory agencies, and is accurate to within 0.125 percent. All of these belt scale systems use the Thermo Scientific Ramsey Micro-Tech 3000 series of electronic integrators, giving users more flexibility, increased upgrade capabilities and a range of communication capabilities. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Oretronic III tramp metal detector helps users minimize downtime and reduce costs by providing an economical and reliable solution to protect expensive crushers, conveyors and other process equipment from damage by tramp metal. In addition, various Thermo Scientific conveyor protection switches monitor operating processes for potentially hazardous conditions and activate an alarm when they occur. A feeder that weighs accurately and reliably can reduce material waste, help maintain blend consistency and increase profits. The range of the Thermo Scientific weighbelt feeders offers increased sensitivity for more accurate weighing of light materials to larger pulleys and a sturdy frame for increased accuracy in high-rate, heavy duty applications. Thermo Scientific impact weighers measure the mass flow of dry solids and powders in mechanical conveying systems without interrupting the flow of material. Finally, the Thermo Scientific Ramsey Loss-in-Weight Feeder measures the mass flow rate and total mass of various bulk materials, such as powders, pellets, flakes and granules. The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Granuflow DTR 131/GTR 130 sensors are low-cost, non-invasive, microwave-based instruments that detect and monitor flow/no-flow conditions of bulk solids in pipelines, ducts and air-slides, and at transfer points of chutes, conveyor belts and bucket elevators. To accurately determine the level of solids and liquids in bins, tanks, silos and vessels, users rely on the wide range of Thermo Scientific level instrumentation.
