Thermo Fisher Scientific Demonstrates New SampleManager LIMS Functionality for ISO 17025 at ACHEMA 2009

FRANKFURT (May 11, 2009) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, at ACHEMA 2009 will introduce new functionality to its flagship SampleManager LIMS that facilitates compliance with the requirements of ISO 17025: 2005. Thermo Scientific SampleManager is being launched in Europe on booth B1-C11, Hall 6.1 at ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 11 – 15.

SampleManager LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is Thermo Fisher’s premier product for industrial laboratories that increases productivity, improves access to data, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. SampleManager LIMS provides management with a centralized system to access data and extract information, allowing more effective management of laboratory operations. In addition, SampleManager LIMS provides evidence and documentation of compliance with ISO 17025 while ensuring optimum product quality.

Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS facilitates compliance in two principle areas of ISO 17025 (Section 4 Management Requirements, and Section 5 Technical Requirements). SampleManager’s enhanced functionality covers a broad range of requirements, including validation of methods, instrument calibration, sampling, control of non-conformance testing and reporting of results.

SampleManager LIMS is the most widely used LIMS in the oil and gas industry, where global petrochemical companies are required to maximize productivity, minimize costs, accelerate time to market and adhere to strict regulatory requirements, all while operating on a 24/7 basis. Developed and proven as an enterprise-wide, multi-laboratory solution, SampleManager LIMS has become the corporate standard at leading organizations. Developed by Sakhalin Energy, the Sakhalin II Project is comprised of a partnership that includes the recovery, production and transportation of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Sakhalin Energy standardized on SampleManager LIMS for use in its main laboratory at the LNG plant/oil export terminal, as well as in the upstream satellite laboratories across Sakhalin Energy. SampleManager LIMS is used to manage the sampling process from upstream through to sample reporting as well as for data management of environmental monitoring throughout Sakhalin Energy operations. SampleManager LIMS is also used to interface seamlessly with critical IT systems, including Sakhalin Energy’s corporate Energy Components package and process information (PI) system for efficient reporting and documentation support. The laboratories must operate according to GLP/OECD guidelines as well as international ISO 17025 standards. SampleManager LIMS is used to demonstrate procedural conformity and to manage the data from thousands of samples required throughout the sampling stages on Sakhalin Island. SampleManager integrates with laboratory instruments so that reports can be centrally accessed and instruments can be routinely scheduled for maintenance and calibration.
