The use of pluripotent stem cells (PSCS) provides an extremely useful tool for disease modeling due to their ability to differentiate to any cell type in the body, including derivatives from all three germ layers (ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm). They also have the ability to renew themselves indefinitely. It is therefore essential to become familiar with the culture requirements for maintaining and expanding PSCs so that the balance between differentiation and self-renewal can be maintained. The Pluripotent Stem Cell Culture virtual training lab is an introduction to stem cell culture, covering many topics including:

  • Coating wells to culture PSCs
  • Preparing new cultures of PSCs
  • Follow-up culture and characterizing pluripotency
