Platinum technology is used with several different types of DNA polymerases. Platinum technology consists of proprietary antibodies, specific to each DNA polymerase, that inhibit polymerase activity at ambient temperatures.

Invitrogen™ Platinum™ DNA Polymerases are provided in an inactive form, due to specific binding of the antibodies. The polymerases are activated in a temperature-dependent manner (at 94°C) during the start of PCR. Once dissociated from the antibodies, the DNA polymerases regain full activity.
