Immunofluorescent analysis of AKAP450 in NIH-3T3 cells. Cells were grown on chamber slides and fixed with formaldehyde prior to staining. Cells were probed without (control) or with a AKAP450 monoclonal antibody (Product # MA1-803) at a dilution of 1:100 overnight at 4 C, washed with PBS and incubated with a DyLight-488 conjugated secondary antibody (Product # 35503). AKAP450 staining (green), F-Actin staining with Phalloidin (red) and nuclei with DAPI (blue) is shown. Images were taken at 60X magnification.

AKAP450 (A-Kinase anchoring protein 450) is a coiled-coil, scaffolding protein. It is a member of a group of AKAP's, derived from a spliced gene located on human choromosome 7. AKAP450 regulates kinases which participate in centrosomal structure and regulation.
AKAP450 also functions as an MR-1 binding protein with potential action in cytoskeletal attachment oof the NMDA receptor. It has also been found to be specifically concentrated at the skelatal muscle and neuromuscular junction.
