Apolipoprotein C3 (Apo C3) is produced primarily in the liver, and is known to circulate in plasma in combination with Apo B lipoprotein and high density lipoproteins. Apo C3 acts as an antagonist to Apo C2 and Apo E to prevent lipolysis by the lipoprotein lipase enzyme, and also the clearance of apo B. The gene encoding Apo C3 is found on chromosome 11.
