Preparation: Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Artemin. Anti-Human Artemin-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human Artemin matrix.
Sandwich ELISA: To detect Human Artemin by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5-2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human Artemin (500-P245Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human Artemin.
Western Blot: To detect Human Artemin by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for Recombinant Human Artemin is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the glial cell line-derived neurotophic factor (GDNF) family of ligands which are a group of ligands within the TGF-beta superfamily of signaling molecules. GDNFs are unique in having neurotrophic properties and have potential use for gene therapy in neurodegenerative disease. Artemin has been shown in culture to support the survival of a number of peripheral neuron populations and at least one population of dopaminergic CNS neurons. Its role in the PNS and CNS is further substantiated by its expression pattern in the proximity of these neurons. This protein is a ligand for the RET receptor and uses GFR-alpha 3 as a coreceptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
