Western blot detection of BNIP3 in extracts of 293T cells transfected with human BNIP3. Samples were separated on SDS-PAGE and probed using a BNIP3 monoclonal antibody (Product # MA1-24688). The antibody was developed with AlkPh APA mouse Fab Ads Hu, Bov, Hor and an NBT/BCIP substrate.

MA1-24688 detects BNIP3 from human samples.
MA1-24688 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, ELISA and Western blot procedures. Positive Control: 293T cells transfected with BNIP3.
The MA1-24688 immunogen is a recombinant fragment corresponding to residues 1-163 of human BNIP3. This antibody recognizes an epitope of residues 112-124 from human BNIP3.
This gene is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein which is responsible for the protection of virally-induced cell death, as well as E1B 19 kDa-like sequences of BCL2, also an apoptotic protector. This gene contains a BH3 domain and a transmembrane domain, which have been associated with pro-apoptotic function. The dimeric mitochondrial protein encoded by this gene is known to induce apoptosis, even in the presence of BCL2.
