Western blot analysis of MIP-1 beta in whole cell extracts from Jurkat cells (lane 1), and K562 cells (lane 2) using a MIP-1 beta recombinant rabbit oligoclonal antibody (Product # 710391) at a dilution of 1ug/ml. Samples were detected using chemiluminescence (ECL). Results show a band at ~15kDa.

Macrophage inflammatory protein-1 beta is a chemokine belonging to the family of chemotactic cytokines. It is involved in chemotactic and proinflammatory effects, and homeostasis. It is produced by macrophages upon stimulation by bacterial endotoxins. It recruits and stimulates various inflammatory cells at sites of inflammation. MIP-1 beta is produced by lymphocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. This protein binds with high affinity to CCR5 receptors.
