This antibody is a monoclonal mixture of FITC-conjugated CD45 (clone BHPT-1, isotype IgG1) and PE-conjugated CD14 (clone FWKW, isotype IgG2b).
CD14 is a single-copy gene encoding 2 protein forms: a 50- to 55-kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored membrane protein (mCD14) and a monocyte or liver-derived soluble serum protein (sCD14) that lacks the anchor. Both molecules are critical for lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-dependent signal transduction, and sCD14 confers LPS sensitivity to cells lacking mCD14. Increased sCD14 levels are associated with inflammatory infectious diseases and high mortality in gram-negative shock. CD45 Leukocyte Common Antigen (LCA) belongs to the family of at least four isoforms of membrane glycoproteins (220, 205, 190, 180 kDa) expressed on hematopoietic cell lines but absent on non-hematopoietic cell lines, normal and malignant, non-hematopoietic tissues. The intracellular portion of these molecules have protein phosphatase activity and are involved in regulation of transmembrane signals.
