CD153 is a 40 kDa cell surface receptor, which is a type II transmembrane protein and member of the TNF superfamily. CD153 interacts with CD30 with plays functions in T cell activation/costimulation. Expression of CD153 on T cells peaks 24-48 hours after activation and is upregulated via TCR engagement. Signaling through CD153 is important in pre-activated T cell stimulation.
