MA1-70003 detects CD8a in rat samples.
MA1-70003 has been successfully used in flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry procedures.
The MA1-70003 immunogen is high molecular weight rat thymocyte.
This antibody recognizes CD8. CD8 is composed of an alpha chain with Mr=30-34 kDa linked by disulfide bonds to a beta chain with Mr=30-32 kDa. In addition to forming heterodimers with the beta chain, the alpha chain is also capable of forming homodimers while the beta chain is incapable of forming homodimers. The extracellular portion of CD8alpha binds to the non-polymorphic portion of MHC class I molecules. This interaction is important in the antigen presentation to CD8+ T cells. The cytoplasmic domain of the alpha chain associates with p56lck, a member of the Src family of tyrosine kinases. Cells which are reactive with this antibody include: thymocytes, natural killer cells, and a subset (CD4-) of peripheral T-cells.

Eradication of rat malignant gliomas by retroviral-mediated, in vivo delivery of the interleukin 4 gene.
MA1-70003 was used in immunohistochemistry to test if IL-4 can protect from malignant gliomas in vivo.

Expression of prolactin receptors in murine lymphoid cells in normal and autoimmune situations.
MA1-70003 was used in flow cytometry to investigate the expression of prolactin receptor in lymphocyte subsets
