CX3CR1 also known as chemokine receptor 1 or fractalkine receptor is a G-protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed on subsets of immune cells such as monocytes natural killer cells and T lymphocytes. It binds to the chemokine ligand CX3CL1 (fractalkine) which is unique due to its membrane-bound nature and participates in critical processes like leukocyte adhesion and migration. This receptor-ligand interaction is vital for immune surveillance inflammation and tissue repair. Dysregulation of CX3CR1 is linked to various pathological states including chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer metastasis. In research contexts CX3CR1 is studied for its role in neuroinflammation and cardiovascular diseases where its modulation could offer therapeutic benefits. Albumin on the other hand is a versatile protein found in blood plasma and is the most abundant protein in human serum.
