MA1-20285 detects calcitonin in human samples.
MA1-20285 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot procedures. This antibody may be used in a sandwich ELISA when paired with MA1-20291 as the capture antibody.
The MA1-20285 immunogen is recombinant, full length, human calcitonin protein.
Calcitonin is a peptide hormone synthesized by the parafollicular cells of the thyroid. It causes a rapid, but short lived, reduction in serum calcium and phosphate by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones. This effect is opposite to that of parathyroid hormone.
