The MA5-11860 immunogen is synthetic peptide derived from bovine clathrin light chain corresponding to the conserved region of the light chains, residues 23-44.
Clathrin consists of three heavy chain (192kDa) and three light chains (LCa or LCb, 25-29kDa) and self-assembles into a polyhedral cytoskeletal element. Self-assembly facilitates clathrin's central role in membrane sorting and selective transport within the cell.
