Immunofluorescent analysis of Desmin in cardiomyocytes isolated from rat heart using a Desmin monoclonal antibody (Product # MA1-22150). The cross-striation corresponding to the Z bands is evident. Some striations are continuously crossing the cell, others show branching that is equivalent to the course of the sarcomeres. Due to the isolation procedure, the cell contains only one membrane of the intercalated disc at both ends that labels for desmin. Nuclei are stained with propidium iodide.

MA1-22150 detects desmin in feline, chicken, bovine, goat, hamster, human, mouse, rabbit, rat, ovine, snake, and lizard samples.
MA1-22150 has been successfully used in immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry (paraffin) and Western blot procedures.
The MA1-22150 immunogen is purified, full length, native, pig desmin protein.
Store at 4°C short term. For extended storage aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Desmin is the protein subunit of muscle-type intermediate filaments (IFs). Desmin is one of the five major groups of IFs and is found predominantly in skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle. DE-U-10 labels desmin in tumors derived from muscle tissue (leiomyomas and rhabdomyosarcomas).
