Western blot detection of Fatty Acid Synthase in chicken hypothalamus. A: total RNA (1µg) isolated from different tissues (brain, hypothalamus, liver and muscle) was subjected to RT-PCR using specific primers for chicken Fatty Acid Synthase or ribosomal 18S as a control. B: tissue lysates (brain, hypothalmus, liver and muscle) probed using a Fatty Acid Synthase polyclonal antibody (Product # PA1-32355) and detected using enhanced chemiluminescence.

PA1-32355 detects Fatty Acid Synthase from mouse, porcine, human, monkey and rat samples.
PA1-32355 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry (paraffin tissue), Western blot applications.
The PA1-32355 immunogen is: An internal synthetic peptide, conjugated to KLH, made near the N-terminus of the mouse FAS protein sequence.
Store at 4°C short term. For long term storage, store at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
The enzyme encoded by this gene is a multifunctional protein. Its main function is to catalyze the synthesis of palmitate from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA, in the presence of NADPH, into long-chain saturated fatty acids. In some cancer cell lines, this protein has been found to be fused with estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-alpha), in which the N-terminus of FAS is fused in-frame with the C-terminus of ER-alpha.
