A mouse kidney section visualized with fluorescent Qdot® nanocrystal conjugates. Laminin was labeled with an anti-laminin antibody and visualized using Qdot® 565 goat F(ab')2 anti–rabbit IgG (Q11431MP, Q11432MP). PECAM (platelet/endothelial cell adhesion detection molecule CD31) was detected with a mouse anti–PECAM-1 monoclonal antibody and visualized using red-fluorescent Qdot® 655 goat F(ab')2 anti–mouse IgG (Q11022MP, Q11021MP). Nuclei were stained with blue-fluorescent Hoechst 33342 (H1399, H3570, H21492).

Qdot nanocrystals are composed of semi-conductor material to generate a fluorescent particle which is exceptionally bright and does not photobleach. Qdot nanocrystals paired with the correct optical filters are as much as 50 times brighter than traditional organic dyes.
Anti-Mouse secondary antibodies are affinity-purified antibodies with well-characterized specificity for mouse immunoglobulins and are useful in the detection, sorting or purification of its specified target. Secondary antibodies offer increased versatility enabling users to use many detection systems (e.g. HRP, AP, fluorescence). They can also provide greater sensitivity through signal amplification as multiple secondary antibodies can bind to a single primary antibody. Most commonly, secondary antibodies are generated by immunizing the host animal with a pooled population of immunoglobulins from the target species and can be further purified and modified (i.e. immunoaffinity chromatography, antibody fragmentation, label conjugation, etc.) to generate highly specific reagents.
