For IHC applications, it is necessary to perform heat-mediated antigen retrieval with citrate buffer, pH 6, prior to staining. In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at ~53 kDa (hnRNP F, predicted 49.8 kDa) and 56 kDa (hnRNP H, predicted 53.9 kDa).
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA binding proteins and they complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. This protein plays a role in the regulation of alternative splicing events. Binds G-rich sequences in pre-mRNAs and keeps target RNA in an unfolded state.
