Immunofluorescence analysis of CBX3 in Hela Cells and CNE2Z Cells using Anti-CBX3 Recombinant Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (Cat. no. 730045). Hela Cells and CNE2Z Cells were fixed with 3% Formaldehyde and lysed with 1% TritonX-100. Cells were then labeled with Anti-CBX3 Recombinant Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (Cat. no. 730045) and detected with Goat-anti-human Alexa Fluor dye F488 (green). FLAG Cells were double labeled with Anti-CBX3 Recombinant Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (Cat. no. 730045) and detected with Goat-anti-human Alexa Fluor dye F488 (green) as well as with Mouse-anti-FLAG-M2 and detected with Goat-anti-Mouse Alexa Fluor dye F647 (yellow). The DNA in the nucleus was detected with DAPI (Blue). Control means cells were labeled only with secondary antibody Alexa Fluor Dye.

At the nuclear envelope, the nuclear lamina and heterochromatin are adjacent to the inner nuclear membrane. The protein encoded by this gene binds DNA and is a component of heterochromatin. This protein also can bind lamin B receptor, an integral membrane protein found in the inner nuclear membrane. The dual binding functions of the encoded protein may explain the association of heterochromatin with the inner nuclear membrane. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein but differing in the 5' UTR, have been found for this gene.
