HYB 232-11-02 has specificity for human protein S.
HYB 232-11-02 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures. HYB 232-11-02 reacts strongly with protein S. Strong reaction is seen in sandwich ELISA in combination with a biotinlabeled antibody against protein S. Reactivity is Ca++ dependent and is optimal when using a tris-buffer containing 1 mM CaCl2. In Dot blotting SDS-treatment abolishes the reactivity.
The HYB 232-11-02 immunogen protein S isolated from human plasma.
Epitope specificity differs from that of HYB 232-02.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
Protein S is a vitamin K-dependent, potent neutral anticoagulant plasma glycoprotein. Protein S has a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa and consists of a single polypeptide chain. The concentration of protein S in human plasma is 25 µg/mL, with a half-life of approximately two days. About 40% of Protein S in plasma is in a free form, whereas 60% is complexed with C4b-binding Protein (C4BP). Only the free Protein S functions as a cofactor to antigen presenting cells (APC) in the APC-dependent degradation of Factor Va and Factor VIIIa.
