Invitrogen
Specificity: Hapten (4-hydroxy-3-nitropheny1) acetyl (NP).
Hapten 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenyl acetyl NP is a small molecule that consists of a hapten, which is the 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenyl acetyl group, linked to a carrier protein, which is NP or nitrophenol. The carrier protein is an important component of this molecule as it helps to elicit an immune response by presenting the hapten portion of the molecule to the immune system. NP is commonly used as a carrier in immunology research because it is a small, soluble molecule that is easily conjugated with haptens. When the hapten binds to specific antibodies, the carrier protein helps to stimulate an immune response and activate B cells, which can lead to the production of specific antibodies against the hapten.
