Western blot staining of HEK293 lysate overexpressing Human MYF6 (Myc tagged and loaded in Lane A&C) using PA5-19291 at a concentration of 0.5ug/ml (Lane A). Lane C was stained with anti-MYC Tag at a dilution of 1/1000. Lane B was loaded with mock-transfected HEK293 cells and stained using PA5-19291 at a concentration of 0.5 mg/ml. Primary antibody incubation was performed for 1 hour and detection was performed by chemiluminescence.

The protein encoded by this gene is a probable basic helix-loop-helix DNA binding protein involved in muscle differentiation. The encoded protein likely acts as a heterodimer with another bHLH protein. Defects in this gene are a cause of autosomal dominant centronuclear myopathy .
