PA1-4312 detects the Hippostatin/KLK11 protein in human, mouse, and rat samples.
PA1-4312 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~38 kDa protein representing KLK11 in LNCaP cell lysate.
PA1-4312 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 68-82 of the 35 kDa human hippostasin/KLK11protein. There is 86% sequence identity to mouse and rat.
Hippostasin, also known as KLK11, is a kallikrein-like serine protease, which has two alternatively spliced isoforms, brain-type and prostate-type. Hippostasin plays a role in the prostate, including reproductive and/or tumorigenic functions. Elevated serum levels of KLK11 were found in 70% of women with ovarian cancer and in 60% of men with prostate cancer. Analysis of the KLK11 biomarker in serum may aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of ovarian and prostatic carcinoma.
