Description: The JES6-5H4 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-2 (IL-2), a 17 kDa T cell growth factor and a major immunoregulatory cytokine.
Applications Reported: The functional grade purified JES6-5H4 has been reported for use in blocking of fluorochrome conjugated JES6-5H4 in intracellular flow cytometry experiments to serve as specificity control. JES6-5H4 is reported for detection of mouse IL-2 by ELISA, immunoprecipitation, and for neutralizing IL-2 binding and biological activity.
Applications Tested: The JES6-5H4 antibody has been tested by sandwich ELISA for detection of mouse IL-2 in combination with JES6-1A12 and can be used between 0.5-2 µg/mL.
Storage and handling: Use in a sterile environment.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin Level: Less than 0.001 ng/µg antibody, as determined by LAL assay.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC.
Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immuno-modulatory cytokine that is important for the proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 7 (IL-7). The expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, which represents an unusual regulatory mode for controlling the precise expression of a single gene. The targeted disruption of a gene similar to IL-2 in mice leads to an ulcerative colitis-like disease that suggests an essential role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli.
