Interleukin-4 is a pleiotropic cytokine responsible for differentiation of T-cells. IL-4 has been found to have the broadest range of actions. A signal transducer STAT6 is known to play a important role in arbitrating immune regulatory signal of IL-4. It is found as a cluster with other Interleukins on the q arm of chromosome 5.
