IL6R (interleukin-6 receptor subunit alpha) is a part of the receptor for interleukin 6. The IL-6 receptor complex is composed of two membrane glycoproteins: the low affinity receptor and the signal transducing component. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer.
