Suggested positive control: Hela whole cell extract, HeLa cell lysate.
Five distinct DNA ligase activities, I-V, have been identified in mammalian cell extracts. One of these enzymes, LIG1 is central to DNA replication. During DNA replication, the joining of Okazaki fragments by the LIG1 gene product appears to be mediated by an interaction with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). LIG1 participates in nucleotide excision and base excision repair.
