Lysosomal integral membrane protein II (LIMPII, also known as lpg85 and CD36L2) is a member of the scavenger receptor class B, member 2 family. LIMP II is ubiquitously expressed in most higher organisms and is a major lysosomal and endosomal membrane marker. The major portion of LIMPII resides on the luminal side and contains numerous N-glycosylation sites. To date, studies have suggested that this 478-residue type III glycoprotein may play a role as a scavenger receptor, in cell adhesion and fatty acid transportation similar to that of CD36.
