RP-75672 contains purified recombinant human NGAL protein with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag.
RP-75672 may be used as a positive control in many immunological assays.
This protein has a molecular weight of ~27.1 kDa.
The lipocalins are a family of around 25 proteins (including a1-microglobulin and ß-lactoglobulin), which are characterized by their ability to bind small lipophilic substances in their hydrophobic core. They thereby serve as transporters of substances like retinal, biliverdins and prostaglandins. There are indications that NGAL is involved in modulation of the inflammatory response and is found in the plasma of patients after stroke.
