PA1-27980 detects Neuropeptide Y from rat samples. Expected to cross-react with Human (93% identity with immunogen), Mouse (93% identity with immunogen), Cow (87% identity with immunogen), Chicken (87% identity with immunogen), Macaque Monkey (93% identity with immunogen), Pig (87% identity with immunogen) and Sheep (87% identity with immunogen) due to sequence homology.
PA1-27980 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (frozen tissue) and ICC/ IF applications.
The PA1-27980 immunogen is a synthetic peptide SDLLMRESTENAPRTR, corresponding to amino acids 76-91 of Rat Neuropeptide Y.
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is the most abundant neuropeptide in the brain and is known to function as a potent stimulator of feeding behavior. It is a member of a family of proteins that include pancreatic polypeptide, seminalplasmin and peptide YY. In addition to its function in the control of energy balance, several other physiological roles have been attributed to NPY, including involvement in circadian rhythms, sexual function, anxiety responses and vascular resistance.
