This antibody is specific for the bone-derived and platelet-derived proteins. This antibody does not react with non-activated platelet, it reacts with thrombin-stimulated platelet (flow cytometric analysis).
Western blot can be performed using reducing or non-reducing conditions. This antibody was tested in Western blot using an EDTA-extracted fraction of bovine bone.
Reconstitute with 50µl distilled water for a final concentration of 2mg/ml. Reconstituted stock solution (2mg/mL) is stable at 4°C for 6 months, or at -20°C for 1 year. Store solution in aliquots, avoiding repeat freezing/thaw cycles.
Osteonectin is a matrix-associated protein which is also known as Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine. It is a multifunctional protein with a high affinity for cations and hydroxyapatite that provides support to extracellular matrix and mediates the activities of a wide range of growth factors. In addition to this osteonectin is also known to play a vital role in tumor formation. Osteonectin is found to be present on the q arm of chromosome 5.
