MA1-20786 detects osteocalcin in human, rat, bovine, canine, porcine, sheep, goat, and rabbit samples. This antibody does not cross react with mouse Osteocalcin.
MA1-20786 has been successfully used in ELISA, immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin), and Western blot procedures. Predicted molecular weight of 12 kDa.
The MA1-20786 immunogen is full length, bovine osteocalcin protein. This antibody binds an epitope containing gamma-carboxylated residue 17.
Osteocalcin belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla-protein family and constitutes 1-2% of the total bone protein. It binds strongly to apatite and calcium. Gamma-carboxyglutamate residues are formed by vitamin K dependent carboxylation. These residues are essential for the binding of calcium.
