PMEL Antibody (MA1-34759) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescence analysis of PMEL was performed using 70% confluent log phase SK-MEL-5 cells. The cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 10 minutes, permeabilized with 0.1% Triton™ X-100 for 15 minutes, and blocked with 2% BSA for 45 minutes at room temperature. This antibody reacts with an antigen present in cutaneous melanocytes, prenatal and infantile retinal pigment epithelium and melanoma cells.This antibody reacts with melanomas and tumors showing melanoma/melanocytic differentiation. It reacts with junctional and blue nevus cells. Non-melanocytic cells do not react with this antibody.
Target Information
Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes which are found predominantly in skin but also in the bowel and the eye (see uveal melanoma). It is one of the rarer types of skin cancer but causes the majority of skin cancer related deaths.
