Western blot of SK-N-MC total cell extracts, treated with hydroxyurea for 22 hours to induce Tyr15 cdc2 phosphorylation (Control). The immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as the antigen (Peptide Block) but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide (not shown).

This antibody is predicted to react with mouse and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
This antibody is specific for the ~38 kDa cdc2 protein phosphorylated at Tyr15 in Western blots of SK-N-MC total cell extracts. Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as the antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.
Cdc2 is a highly conserved protein serine kinase that plays a key role in regulation of the cell cycle (Maller, 1991). The ability of cdc2 to exercise control over the cell cycle is dependent upon the phosphorylation of Tyr15 in cdc2 (Nakamizo et al., 2002). Cdc2 expression in brain has been linked to both neurogenesis and apoptosis (Konishi and Bonni, 2003; Dranovsky et al., 2001; Okano et al., 1996).

Iron-independent phosphorylation of iron regulatory protein 2 regulates ferritin during the cell cycle.
PA1-4617 was used in western blot to study the role of IRP2 phosphorylation during G2/M phase of the cell cycle.
