RBP4 Antibody in Western Blot (WB) — Western blot analysis from lysates of human liver tissue and human serum. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.05 µg/mL of Rat Anti-human/mouse RBP4/Retinol-Binding Protein 4 Monoclonal Antibody (Product # MA5-24158) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Rat IgG Secondary Antibody. A specific band was detected for RBP4/Retinol-Binding Protein 4 at approximately 22 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions.

RBP4 Antibody in Flow Cytometry (Flow) — Flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes were stained with Rat Anti-human/mouse RBP4/Retinol-Binding Protein 4 Monoclonal Antibody (Product # MA5-24158, filled histogram) or isotype control antibody (open histogram), followed by Allophycocyanin-conjugated Anti-Rat IgG F (ab')2 Secondary Antibody.

Target Information

This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol in the blood. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein post translationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells.
